• How do I import audiobooks into Novelwave?
You can import audiobooks in 2 ways:
- 1. Using the dedicated "Import" button inside the app.
- 2. Using the native iOS "Open With" share menu.
• What audiobook formats are supported?
Novelwave supports all standard audio formats, as well as MPEG-4 video formats. This ensures that audiobooks converted from M4A to MP4 can still be imported and played correctly. However, please note that Novelwave is not intended to function as a video player.
• How can I merge separate audio files into a single audiobook?
When importing audiobooks, you can choose the “Merge Chapters” option. This feature enables you to combine multiple audio files into a single audiobook entry, with each file designated as a chapter.
• Can Novelwave play DRM-protected audiobooks?
No, Novelwave is designed for DRM-free audiobooks only. Please ensure that your audiobooks are free of any digital rights management (DRM) restrictions.
• Where are my audiobooks stored?
Your audiobooks are stored locally on your device. The app does not collect or transmit any data.
• How can I export my audiobooks/collections?
To export your audiobooks outside of Novelwave, follow these steps:
- 1. Tap on the "Edit" button next to the search field to enter "Edit Mode".
- 2. Select the audiobooks/collections that you want to export.
- 3. In the context menu, tap on the "Share" button, which will open the native iOS share menu.
- 4. Pick the destination where you want to share your audiobooks.
• Importing an audiobook fails with a "File already exists" error.
Every audiobook you import is copied in the app's private Documents directory. The file name is preserved as is. This means that multiple audio files with the same name cannot be added to the same collection.
- 1. If the collection contains an audiobook with the same file name, try renaming the file before importing.
- 2. If you're certain that the collection does not have an audiobook with the same file name, please refer to Novelwave does not reflect the correct state of my audiobook collection.
• Creating a collection fails with a "Directory already exists" error.
Collections are represented as folders in the app's private Documents directory. The folder name matches the collection name you specified during creation. This means that multiple child collections with the same name cannot be created in the same parent collection.
- 1. If the parent collection contains a child collection with the same name, try picking a different collection name.
- 2. If you're certain that the parent collection does not have a child collection with the same name, please refer to Novelwave does not reflect the correct state of my audiobook collection.
• Novelwave does not reflect the correct state of my audiobook collection.
Bad news. This is a bug in the application itself and should have never happened.
In short, the application got out of sync with the Documents folder and does not reflect the correct data. Unfortunately, at this point, the only solution is to reinstall the app and start from a blank slate.
Please make sure to export your existing audiobooks/collections before deleting the app as they will be deleted together with the app itself.
A built-in file sync feature is being planned which will ensure that even if this somehow happens in the future, you will be able to easily recover without losing any progress.

Thank you for trying out Novelwave ❤️!
